Lee Viajero & the Edgy Drifters

Lee came fairly late in life to music, starting with guitar and bass guitar when he was 20, but didn't really get serious until he went to Africa 5 years later. There he ended up living with some Rastafarians for several months, and in this time learned to sing. Viajero had his first gig in Cotonou, Benin on Fete de la Musique (June 21). After returning to the States, Lee played in a few bands (including a traditional Haitian drumming group). But it wasn't until coming to Berlin that he really began in earnest, musically speaking. He began a regimen of busking in the subway for hours each day, and which forced him to write and perfect songs in about the most difficult setting imaginable- on the street, you have to catch and keep someone's attention in seconds, and there is no stage to seperate the musician from the audience... After several months of that, he started playing in other people's bands as well as numerous solo shows, slowly and surely learning the craft (and incidentally starting to make a semi-decent living). Lee played bass in two bands (Weed, L.S. Daisy) and guitar/voice in others (Glasgow Kiss, Los Super Coolos, Beautiful Losers). Some of the music is straight-ahead country blues, some is rock, and some is a bit more difficult to categorize. But it is always music, always raw and live...

Lauschangriff

On tour from Zurick

"Attack is the best form of defence."
This is the motto Flo Stoffner (guitar) / Flo Gtte (bass) / Luca Ramella (drums) /Joy Frempong (vocals) live by. Lauschangriff (German: bugging operation) attack listeners auditory habits by defending intelligent rock music - without falling into art-rock clichs. Rather, the quartets explosive mixture of grunge and alternative music bears witness to an infallible sense of moods and sound structures which continually reveal new facets to the way in which we perceive and enjoy music. In between metallic riffs and hidden odd meter rhythms, the listener may discover textures which move between diverse musical contexts. Lauschangriff encapsulate the unexpected and yet won't resist paying homage to the legacies of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin as well as the music of Steve Reich or Arnold Schnberg. However, Lauschangriff is no intellectual crusade, its pure energy rock'n'roll without boundaries.

Pescadores de Ventanas

Featuring
Gustavo Bauchwitz (Buenos Aires, World) Vocals, bandoneon
Julian Wright (Buenos Aires, Argentina) Drums
Philippe Wozniak (Berlin, Germany) Double-bass
Débora Saraiva (Sâo Paulo, Brazil) Percussion
César Nigro (Buenos Aires, Argentina) Guitar
Jorgos Estrella (La Paz, Bolivia) Sound technique, electronic music

Pescadores de Ventanas was founded in the Spring of 2005 in Berlin by Gustavo Bauchwitz. Since then the band, energetic and often interactive, has played more than 50 concerts in Germany and around the world. This year the group, which has grown considerably in size and profile, toured in Mexico, where they played at the renowned Festival of Aguascalientes. With influences rich and various, they perform only their own works, mostly composed by Gustavo himself. The resulting music style cannot be easily branded.

The Wallywoods Christmas show broadcast live on OKB ("Open Channel Berlin") in December 2006, featuring Wally, The Shitty Listener, Fysche, Helge der Hinterhofdichter, two hippies, a pair of transvestites and Pink Peter of TopTV.

Here's Wally at work shot on sculptor Peter Hecht's phone camera at Weissensee (28.08.07). Quick time player needed for this crap.

At the Kreuzberg gallery Angel Idealism jams with Ken Psychedelic of
The Ugly Americans at the opening of Simone Demuth's "Futuristic Kitchen" exhibition (05.08.06). Having trouble converting this one; dodgy sound.
Will update with improved version soon.

And here are The Ugly Americans at Wallywoods on the same night, complete with Siggi on sax. Same trouble converting - will update soon.
